Ink Splattering With The Sailing Home Bundle

Inspire Create Challenge #064

Hello and welcome to the Inspire Create Challenge #064. We have a colour theme with a twist this week with Night Of Navy, Crumb Cake and also a colour of choice! Perfect to play with some ink splattering with the Sailing Home Bundle.

It was all about ink techniques in my class this month. Brayering, sponging, splattering, and masking are all used on this card to create a stormy scene.

Every card looks different and we had a great time splattering ink!

How to create the “storm”

The base is Crumb Cake card. 14.9 cm x 10. 5 cm . The layer is Night Of Navy card 14. 3 cm x 10 cm. The front is Whisper White card. 13.8 cm x 9.5 cm.

Using a sponge brayer, lightly brayer the Whisper White front in Balmy Blue ink. Create a mask for the moon with a second piece of Whisper White in the same size. Cut out a circle using the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch just a little to the right. Place it over the card front and sponge Balmy Blue ink through the aperture with a sponge dauber. Sponge further with a little Night Of Navy ink blending well. Remove the mask and you will have your moon! This next bit is the fun part! Use an Aqua Painter filled with a few drops of Balmy Blue ink and rubbing alcohol and use to splatter over your card front. This will give you pale blue droplets that will dry quickly. Add a few splatters of undiluted Balmy Blue Reinker to create some contrast on the top.

Assemble the card using the stamps and dies from Sailing Home Bundle. Add some of the Night Of Navy and Sahara Sand Bakers Twine before layering to finish it off. Stamp Thanks inside in Crumb Cake and the birds in Night Of Navy.
